Pitching our Sci-Fi Story

Posted on May 22, 2010 with 0 comments
"The Devolution Chronicles: Passage to Niburu" manuscript is complete, the soundtrack is almost there and the storyboard is ready. Now comes the next phase of making a dream into a reality . . . the pitch for publishers, critics, supporters and producers. Someone once said, "to be a good writer, you just need to keep writing." But to be a successful writer, you must also be a great marketer.

Now the marketing begins; the meetings, phone calls, emails, referrals, presentations, revisions, discussions, and inevitably, the rejections. And then more rejections. But with each presentation, with each "what else do you have?", we learn something, something that helps make us as artists probe our story, the characters, the music and make the final product better, more personal, in a way that communicates our creativity and the dream.

Remembering Raz

We held a sunrise service in memory Raz on Easter morning, lit candles, played videos of him playing on the greenbelt he loved with his friends. He had just completed his "bark overs" for our new Sci-Fi project, and we all had fun listening to his out takes, barking on Garage Band.

Dear Friends of Raz,   It  is with great sadness that I must tell you that Raz passed away this morning.     He wasn’t feeling well during the night, which has been a normal occurrence over the last year. We rushed him to the emergency pet clinic at 5 am. He suffered another attack of Bloat, and his spleen went into torsion. They stabilized him and removed his spleen, but the trauma was too much and he did not wake up from the surgery. We were with him to the end, and at least got to say goodbye.   His life was too short, and we will miss him  dearly. Jill, Ali and I are at a loss for words, but we are thankful that we had him in our lives and that we were granted two more years of love after he had his first surgeries, when he was not expected to live. We alway knew we were in "stoppage time", and took life one day at a time, treasuring each day together.   Raz will live on as Koda,  the mind reading hybrid Wolf / Great Dane assassin in my [...]
