EARAMAS: Passage to Niburu

Earamas - Passage to Niburu - Devolution - Rise of the Chimera

"PASSAGE TO NIBURU" Music and Lyrics by Gary Wayne Clark and Glen Dale Spreen

The musical Passage to Niburu begins, as stories about the future of Mankind inevitably must, with the end of the world. But how did it come to this?

In the golden age of humans, Man became so enamored with the promise of advanced technology that he believed that it could erase the sins of his past. But the very technology that Man worshiped as his savior proved to be a double-edged sword.

Indeed, technology that could have been used for good; to eliminate disease, to feed the hungry, to reverse global warming, instead was used to amass an arsenal of nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons that could destroy his world a thousand times over. Like the sword of Damocles hanging by a thread, those maniacal weapons were aimed at the very heart of Man, just waiting for some insane band of zealots to pull the trigger.

And they did.

No human life on the surface of the Earth would survive the devastation that Man brought upon himself. Life on Earth, as it had been known, was gone in the blink of an eye. But for life as yet unknown, worlds would begin anew.

From the ashes of Man’s arrogance, the evolutionary genie was unleashed from the bottle . . . it was twisted, broken, poisoned . . . and then tossed back into a toxic primordial soup. The future of Man would no longer be governed by a millennium of evolution, but in fact, it would be reversed . . . into a genetic devolution. Worlds would be remade, but this time, they would not be made in the image of Man.

In those final moments before the Apocalypse, as the human race stood at the brink of total annihilation, a small band of humans escaped by hurling themselves into space . . . cast astray to destinations unknown. We hear this story through the ears of an unlikely collection of diverse characters that are thrown together, some by choice and some by chance, as they are plunged into the middle of an intergalactic war on an alien planet.

It is this accidental confrontation that triggers a multidimensional “good vs. evil” struggle to the death with many twists and turns, where courage, altruism, and unlikely alliances are all that stand between survival and extermination. In the midst of a conflict that often blurs the boundaries of species and genetics, some truths are discovered that are immutable. Respect for life, free will, and true love can’t be found at the end of a gun or under a microscope, but thankfully, their seed is present in all living creatures, just waiting to be awakened.

And so it was that in his quintessential moment of truth, as Mankind stared into the abyss of his own extinction, only the atonement for his transgressions would offer a glimmer of hope for his future. But this is not a story about the beginning of the end of Mankind; regardless of this story, that ending will come soon enough.

This is a story about the end of the beginning for the human race; an epic journey, the battle between good and evil, and the quest to discover why Man was placed here in our universe. The Ancients say that it is not the destination but the journey that defines the essence of a being. If that is true, then we trust that Mankind will enjoy the ride . . . excerpts from “Devolution – Rise of the Chimera”, by Gary W. Clark.

Background on Earamas

What seems to be only a moment ago, we arrived by chance together at a bend in the road. From one path of bands, budgets, and contracts and the other of computers, commuters and dot com disputers, we stood together looking down both roads as far as the eye could see. Sorry to not travel both roads, we made a choice, went all in and caught a cowboy on the river.

Was it fate or just chance that guided our path? Maybe a bit of both, but one might say that chance favors the prepared mind. As we look back and remember that bend in the road, we chose to take the road less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.

Emonesia™ tells the story of that first path taken, and what we have learned along the way. But just as one path opens to another, there are more paths to explore just around the next bend. As many have learned, it's not the destination, but the journey that defines us - so relax and enjoy the ride for the best is yet to come . . .

Emonesia ------> A few random notes on songs from the Emonesia™ album - A Thousand Voices - Thoreau once said that the mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation. That can only be true if we do not raise our voice to be heard, regardless of who is listening.

Stuart McIntire on lead Guitar, man that guy can wail. Stuart, where are you now?

Night Stalker was written along with a script by Tom Hubbell for a TV show called Midnight Caller. Recap - The Nighthawk tangles with a really creepy Jason-like dream killer, with vocal by Bonnie Rait. Kind of a Metalica pre-Sandman story. Unfortunately, Midnight Caller ran 61 episodes but got cancelled before this episode was finallized, so the Night Stalker is still out there somewhere . . . just don't go to sleep.

Somewhere in Time was one of the first songs Glen and I worked on together, and marked our decision to focus on this mat /script> erial. Time travel was the inspiration, and the question of what happens when we die. It was the last song that my sister Joy would ever hear, but I know she is listening today.

Phantom was written for the one that almost got away. I finally understood that he who hesitates is lost, and no, she didn't get away.

Lonely with Someone You Love, we originally cut as a motown feel. This song was later recorded by Tommie Lee Jackson on her country album Looking for a Friend. We felt honored to have this song included on Tommie's album with 3 Grammy award winning songwriters (such as Wayne Carson, who wrote Always on My Mind - a big hit for Willie Nelson).

We cut Secret Lover with a number of singers looking for the right home for this song. This is the original version and features some gentle guitar work by the legendary Bill Murrell, who stopped by the studio one day. We drifted apart over the years, and it was to be the only cut that we ever recored together.

Never be Alone Again was one of those songs that just came together, so I locked myself in the studio one weekend and put down an acoustic version. We may release a full orchestral vers ion in a future project.

Instruments: Keyboards - Glen Spreen and Gary Clark, Bass Guitar - Gary Clark, Lead Guitar - Gary Clark and Stuart McIntire, Drums - Glen Spreen and Gary Clark

Thanks to John and Brian at Instrumental Music for getting us up and running, Wayne Carson for the kind encouragement and Jillaine for the inspiration.

Special thanks to my partner and friend, Glen Spreen - one of the most talented music minds I have ever met. Little did we know that day at Blue Cross when we met that the road of life would take this turn. Thanks for showing me the ropes.

And now, Ali and Justin, the ball's in your court. You are both talented and have special, unique voices . . . don't worry who is listening, just f follow your heart.
